Justin Fields, J.K. Dobbins named to Maxwell Award preseason watch list: Ohio State football news

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State saw two of its offensive football players earn spots on the preseason Maxwell Award watchlist in quarterback Justin Fields and running back J.K. Dobbins. The award given to the best college football player of the year. Fields is entering his first season with the Buckeyes after spending his freshman year backing up Jake Fromm at quarterback at Georgia. Dobbins will be looking to get back to the type of production he had a freshman after a less-than-stellar sophomore season. The fact that he won’t have to alternate series with another running back as he has the past two seasons could lead to a breakout year in what could be his final season in Columbus. Dobbins is one of four players in Ohio State history to run for 1,000 yards as a freshman and has totaled 2,456 yards and 17 touchdowns on 424 carries. The two…
