Ohio State football quarterback Justin Fields still honing awareness after ‘bad sack’ against Cincinnati


COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State football quarterback Justin Fields said he felt much less sore after his second start for the Buckeyes than he did after his first. However, Fields also wants to take less contact going forward, beginning with Saturday’s Big Ten Conference opener at Indiana. In particular he regretted the sack he took midway through the second half of last Saturday’s 42-0 victory over Cincinnati. Fields had seven seconds with which to work from the snap of the ball to the contact from Bearcats linebacker Bryan White. Ohio State coach Ryan Day called it a “bad sack.” His quarterback agreed. “When I took that sack I just was dumb,” Fields said. “I was sitting back there waiting too long.
