How Kyle McCord, 2021 commit, is preparing to compete with Ohio State football’s two potential 2020 quarterbacks


COLUMBUS, Ohio — When Kyle McCord of St. Joseph’s Prep (Penn.) High School committed to Ohio State in April. It gave the Buckeyes a potential quarterback competition in 2021. McCord — who is rated as the No. 29 overall player and No. 5 pro-style quarterback in the 2021 recruiting class — would battle with 2020 commit Jack Miller of Chaparral (Ariz.) High School. Miller would be the sophomore who’d spent the last season behind Justin Fields while McCord would be the true freshman who’d arrive in January. Then after a summer of quarterback musical chairs in the locker room forced the Buckeyes to change their approach. Now after offering CJ Stroud of Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) High School, there may be two guys McCord has to go through to be the starting quarterback. But it hadn’t forced the four-star to question his decision to commit when he was only a sophomore.…
