Ohio State football’s J.K. Dobbins can have last word on Heisman Trophy worthiness: Buckeye Takes


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s longshot bid to send three players to the Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York ended Monday night. Chase Young and Justin Fields will make their deserved trip. Not enough voters put Buckeyes running back J.K. Dobbins on their limited ballots to add him to the traveling party. Those who argue Dobbins or Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor or Oklahoma State’s Chuba Hubbard should be headed to New York quickly run into a numbers problem. Not statistical numbers — all three turned in prolific and virtuoso backfield performances. Heisman voters can only vote for three players, however. This year featured two obvious candidates (Young and LSU’s Joe Burrow) and two next-tier candidates (Fields and Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts).
