
COLUMBUS, Ohio — A year ago at this time, Justin Fields seemed farther away from Heisman Trophy consideration than Athens, Georgia, is from his current residence at Ohio State on a map. Fields was used as sort of an offensive add-on in his freshman season at Georgia. With quarterback Jake Fromm back from a national championship game appearance, the Bulldogs determined they did not need the full Fields experience to win. Perhaps they were correct. Georgia went 11-3, played for the SEC title and went to the Sugar Bowl. A strong season by almost any measure. Ohio State, however, needed Fields to use every ounce of his talent.
