
Ohio State alum Michael Thomas is the NFL’s single-season receptions record-holder — and he reached the milestone with a week to spare. The New Orleans Saints receiver’s 11th reception in Sunday’s game at the Tennessee Titans gave him 144 this season. That broke the record former Indianapolis Colts receiver Marvin Harrison set in 2002. Thomas scored later in the drive and finished with 136 yards on 12 receptions. He can extend his record in the season finale at the Carolina Panthers. Thomas’ record-setting efforts continued Sunday. He broke Randy Moss’ mark for receiving yards through a player’s first four NFL seasons. He also broke Antonio Brown’s record for most receptions in any two-year span. Thomas will take 145 receptions, 1,688 yards and nine touchdowns in the season finale. Marshon Lattimore and Eli Apple combined for five tackles in the Saints’ secondary.
