Ohio State football Spring Game canceled and attendance at other events closed to public


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s Spring Game has annually attracted crowds of tens of thousands of fans — surpassing 100,000 fans as recently as 2016. The 2020 game will have none. Ohio State announced Wednesday night that the 2020 game, scheduled for April 11, will be played without spectators. The decision is the latest in Ohio and around the country motivated by an abundance of caution about the spread of coronavirus. Additionally, all home athletic events through the remainder of the academic year will be closed to the public. Attendance is limited to athletes and their immediate family members, coaches and staff, essential event management, operational and facility staff, and credentialed members of the media. OSU coach Ryan Day also announced his staff has suspended all recruiting visits through April 20. Ohio State is currently on spring break.
