In a video posted online by Eleven Warriors, Towns shouted “Say his name!” “George Floyd!” the crowd replied. Ohio State spokesman Dan Wallenberg told ESPN that Towns was briefly detained but not arrested. He was released Friday and returned home, Buckeyes coach Chris Holtmann told ESPN. Floyd died Monday in Minneapolis in police custody. His death has sparked protests against racial injustice and police brutality across the country. He was 46. Derek Chauvin, the white police officer who knelt on the neck of Floyd, who is black, was fired earlier this week and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter on Friday.
