
Tom Izzo has the longest-tenured coaching staff in the country at Michigan State, and now two members of that staff are being recognized as some of the best in the Big Ten. Dwayne Stephens was recognized as the best assistant coach in the Big Ten in a ranking published on Tuesday by Stadium, while Dane Fife was recognized as the third-best coach in the conference in the same list. The ranking was put together by polling more than 20 coaches across the league and compiling the results. Stephens, a former Spartans player, has been on the Michigan State staff since 2003. He’s been the team’s primary developer of big men and played a lead role in recruiting some of the Spartans’ best players while serving as Izzo’s right-hand man on the staff.
