COLUMBUS, Ohio — Even though the Ohio State Fair and its traditional butter cow is canceled this year, a DIY Butter Cow Challenge invites Ohioans to create their own mini-butter cows. © Laura Hancock lhancock@cleveland.com/The Plain Dealer/cleveland.com/TNS The DIY Butter Challenge invites butter lovers to make their own mini-Butter Cow, similar to the Butter Cow displayed annually at the Ohio State Fair. In 2017, the official fair butter sculpture honored high school athletes. The challenge is sponsored by American Dairy Association Mideast, Ohio’s dairy farmer-funded marketing and promotion program, which regularly sponsors the Ohio State Fair butter cow display. The Butter Cow Challenge starts Tuesday, July 28, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 9. DIY butter artists can post photos of their creations on the ADA Mideast’s Facebook page, or tag their photo with the tag #BuildYourButterCow on ADA Mideast’s Twitter or Instagram, during that time.
