The Ohio State University announced on Friday its plans for a comprehensive community testing program as they prepare for the fall semester. Testing will begin before the fall semester officially starts with “a random sample of up to 6,500 undergraduate students.” Students who test positive will be required to quarantine – at their homes (if they have not yet moved onto campus) or in on-campus isolation housing. The university wants to establish a baseline of positive cases as students return to campus and they plan to “compare to results from ongoing student testing that will occur over the course of the semester.” Here is the entire announcement from the university. Ohio State says it will cover the costs of asymptomatic testing, which will be conducted throughout the semester and will be available on a voluntary basis to faculty, staff, graduate and professional students.
