COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine last week said he remained skeptical whether Ohio State’s plan to allow up to 20,000 fans into Ohio Stadium is safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. DeWine, or the Ohio Department of Health, must be satisfied of that safety before anyone passes through Ohio Stadium’s gates in 2020. A public health order that went into effect Saturday prohibits spectators at the games of contact sports teams. The order defines contact sports to include football, basketball, rugby, field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, wrestling, hockey, boxing, futsal and martial arts against opponents. The order remains in effect until the ODH revises or retracts it, or until DeWine’s current State of Emergency ends. If neither happens by the start of their seasons, the Buckeyes, Browns and high school football teams will play in front of empty stands — if they are able to begin their seasons at all.…
