COLUMBUS, Ohio — Class of 2023 offensive tackle Payton Kirkland had played a little bit of football before high school, but not at the level he’s currently at right now. He has a basketball background, and he plays in Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League; he wasn’t able to play this season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Kirkland even has an unofficial hoops offer from Tulsa, and if he had an opportunity to play both sports on a dual-sport scholarship, he would.
