COLUMBUS, Ohio — Big Ten Conference leadership reportedly is on the verge of canceling the 2020 fall season, perhaps in hopes of pushing the sport into the spring. This edition of Buckeye Talk asks the question: Why now, and are the players’ and parents’ appeals to at least attempt to play football this fall being recognized? Last Wednesday, on the same day the Big Ten Conference gave football teams the green light to begin preseason camp, it announced a re-worked 2020 schedule. That format built in multiple idle weeks for every team, to more easily allow for potential game postponements due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
