
Don’t worry. Columbus will still be Columbus, even without the Buckeyes playing football. For now, it’s unclear whether Ohio State will play later this year, early next year or not at all. What we know is that, because of the coronavirus pandemic, the team is not playing now. Does this change our town’s emotional profile? Let’s examine a few categories: Anxiety quotient Traditionally, Ohio State fans marinate in season-long anxiety, no matter how well the team is playing. If not for the virus, the Buckeyes would have opened its season this weekend by beating someone like, let’s say, Bowling Green, by a score of 42-14. Angst-ridden fans would be nitpicking that performance right now — mourning a victory, in other words.
