Crimson Tide Comebacks: Alabama 24, Ohio State 17 in 1995 Citrus

One of a series From time-to-time we hear complaints about ESPN commentator Joey Galloway, that he seems to have such disdain for Alabama football. That’s a subjective call, but if it’s true it may stem from the January 2, 1995 Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Galloway was a fabulous wide receiver for Ohio State, and he proved it against the Crimson Tide that day, pulling in eight passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns. But he could only watch as Bama completed a winning comeback in the final minute. Bama’s Citrus Bowl performance was in many ways typical of the season. Bama came into the Citrus Bowl with an 11-1 record. In one of the post-practice press briefings, Ohio State Coach John Cooper pointed out that Alabama was “just two points away from playing for the national championship.” He was referring to the Tide’s 24-23 loss to Florida in the Southeastern…
