Whether or not the coming season could be an historic one for the Buckeyes remains up for debate. • Can Ohio State average 50 points per game? No team has done it since 2013. Last season the Buckeyes ranked third nationally with 46.9 points per game. How realistic is that threshold, especially considering LSU’s vaunted offense averaged only 48.4 points last season? Every time OSU scored under 50, the average it needs in every other game goes up. Score only 28 points against Penn State again, for instance, and the Buckeyes have to average 52.2 if they play all 11 games. • Then again, Ohio State expects to score in bunches against any defense with Justin Fields at quarterback. His 41 touchdown passes in 14 games ranked third nationally in 2019.…
