Tony Alford had a big task this offseason. Ever since late December, shortly following Ohio State’s loss to Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl, Alford knew he had to find the next great running back for the Buckeyes. As soon as J.K. Dobbins announced his intentions to leave college a year early and declare for the 2020 NFL Draft — where he was a third-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens — the Scarlet and Gray’s running back coach went to work, figuring out exactly how Ohio State would replace a player that rushed for nearly 4,500 yards and scored 43 touchdowns in three seasons.
