
COLUMBUS, Ohio — On the same day that the Ohio State basketball program finalized its 2021 recruiting class, it added a commit to its 2022 class in Roddy Gayle Jr. of Lewiston Porter Senior High School in Youngstown, New York. The four-star recruit is rated as the nation’s No. 76 overall player and No. 7 shooting guard. He chose the Buckeyes from a top-six that included Georgetown, Marquette, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and UConn. Gayle Jr. is the second member of OSU’s 2022 recruiting class joining Bowen Hardman, who committed in May. Ohio State joins Michigan State as the only other school with more than one commitment, and Gayle Jr.’s decision bumps the class up from No. 6 to No. 2 in the country.
