Roddy Gayle, Class of ‘22 recruit, picks Ohio State over Syracuse, UConn, others


Syracuse, N.Y. ? Roddy Gayle, a 6-foot-4 guard who is a Top 75 recruit in the 2022 class, announced on Friday that he would attend Ohio State. Gayle chose the Buckeyes out of a list of finalists that included Syracuse, Marquette, Pittsburgh, Connecticut and Georgetown. Gayle, who attends Lewiston-Porter High School, is ranked No. 54 in the 2022 class by 247Sports.com. Syracuse has yet to receive a commitment in the Class of ’22, but is actively recruiting several other top prospects. Dior Johnson, a 6-3 guard ranked in the top 10 of most recruiting services for the ’22 class, recently decommitted from Syracuse. Johnson, who is currently attending Corona (Calif.) Centennial High School, had verbally committed to the Orange last February. On Wednesday, Syracuse received a signed letter of intent from Class of ’21 forward Benny Williams.
