With Ohio State football facing a coronavirus outbreak, what to worry about and not worry about: Doug Lesmerises


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State’s football game with Illinois on Saturday has been canceled because of positive coronavirus tests in the Buckeyes football program. It’s the second game this season Ohio State has lost, the first coming two weeks ago because of positive tests in the Maryland program. Of course, Ohio State fans are worried. Here’s how I would direct that worry. Don’t worry about Ohio State missing the Big Ten Championship Game Big Ten teams must play at least six of eight regular-season games to be eligible for the Big Ten Championship Game, according to rules set up by the conference before the season. That applies unless so many teams miss so many games that the threshold gets lowered. Wisconsin, missing its third game this weekend, is already out, unless more teams miss more games. Ohio State would be out if it misses one of its final two games…
