AP Top 25 poll: Ohio State holds at No. 3 in college rankings heading into regular season’s final week


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State created a little more separation between itself and Clemson for the No. 3 spot in the college rankings with Saturday’s 52-12 victory at Michigan State. The Buckeyes now have 1,407 vote points in the AP Top 25 poll, compared to 1,387 for No. 4 Clemson. Last week, after Ohio State’s game at Illinois was canceled due to the Buckeyes’ coronavirus cases, the Buckeyes’ lead over Clemson dropped to 11 vote points. The Tigers hold the edge, though, in the ranking that matters. Clemson has been No. 3 in the first two College Football Playoff rankings, and Ohio State is No. 4. That may inevitably change, however, since Clemson and Notre Dame will play in the ACC championship game. Alabama remained the unanimous No. 1, followed by No. 2 Notre Dame.
