
EAST LANSING, Michigan — Ohio State football has been talking about the depth and versatility of its linebacker room for a couple of years. Circumstances forced the Buckeyes to prove it a bit in Saturday’s 52-12 victory at Michigan State. Tuf Borland, a three-time captain and three-year starter at Mike linebacker, was one of 17 scholarship players listed as unavailable. Ohio State did not designate which players were out for injury and which were out due to coronavirus tests or contact tracing. The Buckeyes may need to play without the senior leader again against Michigan, assuming the Wolverines’ own COVID-19 issues allow them to play Saturday. So Baron Browning moved from Sam linebacker back the Mike spot he used to share with Borland. Much-respected sixth-year senior and captain Justin Hilliard earned a rare start.
