
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football has lost to Michigan once in the last decade on the football field, and the same can be said of the battles on the recruiting trail. The Buckeyes’ last loss on the field came in 2011 in a season where Luke Fickell stepped into a one-year head coaching role and dealt with NCAA sanctions and still came close to winning. That was almost a transitional year between the exit of Jim Tressel and the arrival of Urban Meyer. Michigan walked away with a win on the recruiting trail in the same fashion in 2019 when OSU transitioned from Meyer to Ryan Day.
