Ohio State football coach Ryan Day on his coronavirus diagnosis: ‘I felt like I let people down’


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, Ohio State football coach Ryan Day urged his players to respect the virus. He made public service announcements. He urged the Buckeyes to assume every person they came in contact with had the virus. He and other coaches spent time away from their families to try to stay away from an accidental transmission. Then Day tested positive in the days leading up to the Buckeyes’ Thanksgiving weekend game at Illinois. Ohio State had to cancel that game due to the extent of other positive tests. Day did not accompany the team to its 52-12 victory at Michigan State last Saturday.
