Ohio State football’s Justin Fields said he may have sprained thumb in Big Ten Championship win over Northwestern


INDIANAPOLIS — Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields said in a postgame interview he may have suffered a sprained thumb during a 22-10 Big Ten championship game victory over Northwestern. “I think it might be sprained,” Fields said on the FOX broadcast. “I’m not sure. I’ll probably get an X-ray or something like that. I was just trying to finish out the game.” The Buckeyes quarterback wore a small brace, that went around his thumb, on his right throwing wrist during the second half. A 2019 Heisman Trophy finalist, Fields never found a rhythm Saturday against Northwestern’s top-ranked pass defense. He completed 12 of 27 passes for 114 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. He completed 3 of 7 passes in the second half for 13 yards.
