Ohio State coach Ryan Day takes a shot at Clemson and Brent Venables’ sign-stealing reputation


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football coach Ryan Day has largely avoided any war of words with Clemson, despite ample opportunity. However, he appeared to land a not-so-subtle jab against the Tigers on Monday during the first interviews ahead of Friday’s College Football Playoff semifinal at the Sugar Bowl. Day answered a question about the disruption Clemson’s defense creates. The Tigers rank fifth nationally in yards allowed per play, fourth in sacks per game and third in tackles for loss per game. Asked about matching up with Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables, Day coyly referenced the Tigers’ well-earned and not really disputed reputation for stealing opponents’ signals.
