COLUMBUS, Ohio — It hasn’t taken Al Washington long to establish himself as an elite-level recruiter as Ohio State football’s linebackers coach. His first cycle in 2020 produced three quality additions in Cody Simon, Kourt Williams and Mitchell Melton while putting the Buckeyes in the discussion for the country’s top player. He followed with Ohio native Reid Carrico in 2021, but the 2022 class has allowed him to flex his muscles. That class will serve as the reset of the room with potentially four top-100 recruits. He didn’t have to leave the state for the first two while convincing the third to return to his Ohio roots.
