Bucknuts Q&A: Penn State transfer Wheeler elaborates on why OSU was best fit for him

News broke on Tuesday night that Ohio State was accepting Penn State guard Jamari Wheeler as a transfer for the 2021-222 basketball season. The 6-1, 170-pound Wheeler brings a wealth of experience to the OSU backcourt. The Buckeyes bid farewell to senior point guard CJ Walker after the team’s NCAA Tournament loss to Oral Roberts. OSU is expected to have current freshman Meechie Johnson and “super senior” Jimmy Sotos back next year. Wheeler and Sotos are both taking advantage of NCAA rules allowing players an extra year of eligibility due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Wheeler, a native of Live Oak, Fla., is a veteran of 127 games with 84 starts in his Penn State career.
