Mike Sensibaugh, Ohio State’s all-time interceptions leader and Super Sophs national champion, dies at 72


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Mike Sensibaugh, who set Ohio State football interceptions records that have stood for over 40 years, died March 31 in Wildwood, Missouri, at age 72. Sensibaugh, a Cincinnati native, helped the Buckeyes to a 10-0 national championship in 1968 as part of the famed Super Sophs class. Paired with Jack Tatum at the back of the defense, Sensibaugh helped OSU to a 27-2 record over a three-season span. Sensibaugh’s nine interceptions in 1968 and 22 interceptions for his career remain the most in Ohio State history over 40 years later. (Craig Cassady tied that single-season record in 1975.) Sensibaugh also leads in career interception return yardage with 248.
