What a return to No. 1 in the Associated Press poll will eventually mean for Ohio State football


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Prior to the 2015 season, Ohio State football’s loaded defending national championship team was ranked No. 1 in the preseason Associated Press Top 25 poll. The Buckeyes held that spot — somewhat precariously — for the first eight weeks of the season. After a 28-14 victory over Minnesota on Nov. 7, they dropped to No. 2, and Clemson took over the top spot. Two weeks later came a loss to Michigan State on ESPN’s College GameDay. Ohio State has not been ranked No. 1 since. We spent Monday’s episode of Buckeye Talk debating where the Buckeyes will be ranked in the 2021 preseason Associated Press Top 25 poll. Looking around the country, Alabama, Clemson and Oklahoma are drawing support for the No. 1 spot.
