As Ohio State football seeks offensive balance, commitment to a physical run game is essential


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s offense does not lack for quality ingredients, and the 612 yards it put up against Oregon testified to that. Coming out of that 35-28 loss, however, the Buckeyes felt compelled to tweak the recipe. More accurately, they needed to recapture the combination that has worked so well in Ryan Day’s tenure as offensive coordinator and head coach. C.J. Stroud’s 54 pass attempts accounted for 63.5% of OSU’s plays. That play share is usually flipped in favor of the run game.
