
COLUMBUS, Ohio — More Ohio State football freshmen continue to ceremonially lose their black helmet stripes as they push farther into the season. The two who lost theirs after Wednesday’s practice — defensive tackle Mike Hall and cornerback Jakailin Johnson — arrived over the summer with great promise. The benefit of a redshirt season, however, might limit their roles this season. Hall was the No. 53 overall prospect in the 2021 class per the 247 Sports national composite. Right now, the Buckeyes are well-stocked at 3-technique with veterans Haskell Garrett and Taron Vincent. Hall, though, is the sort of high-upside freshman who could earn rotation snaps by the end of the fall. The decision could come down to whether Ohio State wants to redshirt Hall.
