COLUMBUS, Ohio — Five-star Mykel Williams may have committed to USC in early June, but he’s still getting a full recruitment experience. With changes going on in USC’s program including searching for a head coach to replace the fired Clay Helton, many universities have begun efforts to flip the 2022 defensive lineman from Columbus, Georgia’s Hardaway High School. “I want to go to a school where I feel like I can play and get developed into a great player,” Williams told cleveland.com last year. “But it’s not about the football program, it’s about the school too. If the coaches aren’t there when I’m there, what am I going to do then.” In 2020, he helped his team go 7-4 last year, including an appearance in Georgia’s AAAA state playoffs.
