Ohio State football vs. Rutgers game predictions: Can the Buckeyes win more comfortably than Michigan did?


COLUMBUS, Ohio — For the first time this season, Ohio State football has a chance to do something that a Michigan team on the rise could not. It can comfortably keep Rutgers at arm’s length. Michigan appeared to be en route to an easy home win last Saturday. It led 20-3 at halftime and largely controlled the game by running the ball well and thwarting the Scarlet Knights on a couple of fourth-down opportunities. Instead, Rutgers’ defense shut the Wolverines down in the second half. If not for a missed field goal with about eight minutes left and a late fumble, Greg Schiano’s team might have spoiled Michigan’s 4-0 start. Perhaps in part because of that second-half effort, Rutgers is only a 15-point underdog as of Thursday night for its home game against the Buckeyes.
