PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Ohio State football will play its second Big Ten game of the season today, sensing that it’s trending in the right direction. A trip to Rutgers is perhaps the perfect scenario to test out whether that trend is real. It’s a put-up or shut-up week for the Buckeyes. Not in terms of winning or losing. That’s obvious. Even with the Scarlet Knights’ improvement this season, a loss shouldn’t be on OSU’s radar. It’s more about taking that next step as a team. Coaches, players and fans should walk away from this game with an idea of what’s realistically possible this season. Anything short of a positive feeling will only provide more reason for concern.
