What Avery Henry’s commitment means for Ohio State football: Buckeyes recruiting


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football did not build what may be the deepest offensive line in the country on top prospects alone. Dawand Jones did not rank in the top 1000 of the 2019 class, though he possessed a rare combination of size and agility and was a late arrival to the sport. Jakob James and Josh Fryar are three-star prospects who have quickly put themselves in the depth chart conversation. Avery Henry, who committed to the Buckeyes on Wednesday morning, will try to follow that lineage. At 6-6, 305 pounds, the former Iowa State commit from St. Clairsville (on the West Virginia border) will begin his career with the size OSU looks for in long-term tackle projects. Henry joins Tegra Tschabola and George Fitzpatrick as offensive line commitments for 2022. Numbers-wise OSU probably needed a three-man class to keep up with expected attrition.
