Penn State-Ohio State wrap-up: Lions’ defense bares its fangs at times, Parker Washington causes problems for Buckeyes


A victory would have been sweeter. But Penn State did not go quietly against heavily favored Ohio State Saturday night at the Horseshoe, losing 33-24. Here is my list of players who stood out. Parker Washington. The Lions’ second-year wideout, who had been quiet in recent weeks, proved to be a handful for the Buckeyes’ secondary, finishing with nine receptions on 108 yards on 10 targets. Washington had a long gain of 32. Ji’Ayir Brown. Both of the Lions’ safeties, Brown and Jaquan Brisker, were active throughout. Brown, who caused a first-quarter fumble and recovered it, collected seven tackles, six of them solos. Curtis Jacobs. Penn State’s second-year linebacker has been a much-improved player in recent weeks. He has rare speed for a 230-pounder. Jacobs was credited with seven tackles (five solos) and two tackles for loss.
