After Ohio State football’s messy 26-17 win at Nebraska, Buckeyes still looking for lost dominance


LINCOLN, Nebraska — The Ohio State football team that so recently laid waste to the bottom half of the Big Ten Conference has, at least temporarily, dissipated. Ohio State football’s 26-17 victory at Nebraska on Saturday hinged on center Luke Wypler falling on a loose fumble with 102 seconds remaining. Noah Ruggles stayed perfect on the season with a game-clinching 46-yard field goal, and the Buckeyes’ season survived as well. The messy win did not change the playoff trajectory. Winning out still should punch the Buckeyes’ ticket to the final four. Wins over teams like Michigan State and Michigan, and whoever awaits in a potential Big Ten championship game, would impress the selection committee more than Saturday’s road victory gives them pause.
