What Sonny Styles’ commitment means to Ohio State football: Buckeyes Recruiting


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football beat Notre Dame for another big-time recruit in its backyard from the 2023 class and this time it’s for the biggest fish of them all. Sonny Styles of Pickerington Central High School chose the Buckeyes just hours before watching his future teammates player Purdue. He’s the third member of the class alongside tight end Ty Lockwood and offensive lineman Josh Padilla, and it’s first 5-star as the nation’s No. 8 player and top safety. A commitment from Styles is of the same caliber as Jack Sawyer in 2021 and C.J. Hicks in 2022. He’s a program-changing player because of what he can do as a voice for his class and what can happen when he actually puts on a jersey. He’s listed as a safety but his 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame mixed with his athleticism and natural instincts suggest that pigeon-holing him into one position…
