Will Ohio State football’s Kyle McCord and Evan Pryor end up redshirting this season?


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football coach Ryan Day would prefer to allow both quarterback Kyle McCord and running back Evan Pryor to take a redshirt this season. Both true freshmen have played in four games. If neither plays another snap, they will not use a season of eligibility. However, it cannot be ruled out yet that one or both might be needed to help Ohio State win football games in 2021. McCord is the primary backup to starter C.J. Stroud. When Stroud sat out the Akron game to rest his injured shoulder, McCord started. He has been the first quarterback off the bench in the other three games in which he came on as a reserve. Ohio State may not need have any more garbage snaps to fill. The remaining schedule may include only top-10 matchups against Michigan State and Michigan, the Big Ten championship game and the playoff…
