Reports: Akron coaching candidates include Oregon's Joe Moorhead, Ohio State's Kevin Wilson

Two prominent names are emerging in reports regarding who will be the University of Akron’s next football coach. According to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, the Zips are making a push for Ohio State offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson, but it’s unknown if Wilson would accept the job. Wilson was head coach at Indiana for six seasons (2011-16) before arriving in Columbus in 2017. The Buckeyes have improved steadily on offense since his arrival. Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel has the leading candidate as Joe Moorhead, current offensive coordinator at the University of Oregon. Moorhead worked on the UA coaching staff for five years from 2004-08, the last two as offensive coordinator when he worked with quarterback Luke Getsy. While on then-coach J.D. Brookhart’s staff, the Zips won their first and only conference championship.…
