
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football fans no longer need to watch the Tuesday night playoff rankings reveal to see whether their team has finally pulled ahead of Oregon or is headed for an intriguing final four matchup. The rankings do still matter, though, if those fans expect to travel to watch the Buckeyes play their bowl game. A drop out of the top 10 seems unlikely, but the ultimate New Year’s Six destination remains up in the air. If Michigan beats Iowa in Saturday’s Big Ten championship game, the Wolverines will go to the playoff. Ohio State, as the next highest-ranking Big Ten team, would take the Rose Bowl appearance. The opponent would either be Oregon and Utah, who play for the Pac-12 championship on Saturday.
