Ohio State No. 6 in final College Football Playoff; Alabama over Michigan for No. 1


COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State moved up in the final College Football Playoff rankings, but not nearly far enough. The Buckeyes moved up one spot to No. 6 after being idle on conference championship weekend for the first time since 2015. It was the lowest placement for Ohio State in the final rankings since a No. 6 finish in 2018. It has never finished lower than No. 7. Alabama’s convincing victory over Georgia vaulted it to No. 1. The defending national champions will play 4 seed Cincinnati, the only undefeated team in the field, in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Michigan held at No. 2 after its 42-3 Big Ten championship game victory over Iowa. The Wolverines’ first ever playoff game will come against No. 3 Georgia, in the Orange Bowl in Miami. Bowl assignments for the other New Year’s Six teams, including Ohio State, will come later this afternoon.…
