
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Losses above and wins below did not affect Ohio State football’s place in the college rankings. The Buckeyes held at No. 7 in the AP Top 25 poll after sitting idle on championship weekend for the first time since 2015. Ohio State fell there from No. 2 after its regular-season ending loss to Michigan. Pac-12 champion Utah, the Buckeyes’ likely next opponent in the Rose Bowl, moved up four spots to No. 10. Alabama received 50 of 62 first-place votes took over as the No. 1 team after beating Georgia in the SEC championship game. The Bulldogs had held the top spot for eight straight weeks since taking it from the defending national champions. Michigan remained No. 2 with nine first-place votes while Georgia fell to No. 3.
