COLUMBUS, Ohio — If Quinn Ewers ends up at Texas, as Yahoo’s Pete Thamel reported he will Sunday night, the quarterback will likely be long gone before the Longhorns begin their series against Ohio State football. The Buckeyes are scheduled to open the 2025 season at home against Texas and make a return trip to Austin in 2026. Ewers will be a redshirt freshman next fall. Even after his unscheduled early arrival at OSU, one can safely assume he is not on a five-year college plan. So the only way the Buckeyes would play the top prospect in the 2021 class, who played all of one game and two handoffs in Columbus, would be in a potential playoff or bowl game. Texas has never finished anywhere near qualifying for the playoff. If Ewers realizes his promise, though, perhaps he can push the Longhorns back to national relevance. Ewers was originally…
