Texas lands commitment from Ohio State transfer QB Quinn Ewers


AUSTIN – Bleached mullets usually won’t make anyone bat an eye in Austin. But this weekend, Ohio State transfer Quinn Ewers and his feathery blonde lettuce had everyone’s attention.Texas had gone all-in on recruiting the former Southlake Carroll five-star quarterback ever since Dec. 3, when he decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal after one season with the Buckeyes. The Longhorns’ push included an in-home visit from coach Steve Sarkisian on Monday and a highly anticipated trip to the Forty Acres Saturday alongside numerous 2022 and 2023 recruits.   The pitch seemed to work well enough, because Ewers on Sunday informed Sarkisian that he plans to sign with Texas and enroll in January. Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports first reported the news, which a team source later confirmed. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Ewers initially committed to Texas in August 2020.
