
COLUMBUS, Ohio — After nine collective seasons with Ohio State football, breaking through as freshmen before developing into team leaders and nationally recognized talents at their positions, Chris Olave and Thayer Munford’s legacies reached another milestone Wednesday. Both were named first team All-Americans by the American Football Coaches Association, meaning both will receive their tree in Buckeye Grove with other OSU football greats. Olave and Munford bring the total to five new trees in Buckeye Grove for 2021. Wide receiver Garrett Wilson and offensive lineman Nicholas Petit-Frere were selected by the Football Writers Association of America, while kicker Noah Ruggles made ESPN’s first team. Ruggles was also a second-team selection by the AFCA. Olave surprised many by returning for his senior season, passing up a possible first-round NFL Draft opportunity.
