COLUMBUS, Ohio — On paper, adding former LSU cornerback Eli Ricks as a transfer seemed like a no-brainer proposition for Ohio State football. Arguably the top player available in this year’s transfer portal, Ricks projects as a possible first-round NFL Draft pick after next season. The Buckeyes suffered from a lack of NFL-ready players all over their defense the past two seasons. Ricks even had a relationship with C.J. Stroud dating back to their elementary school days in southern California’s youth leagues. So why did Ohio State pull out of its pursuit of Ricks, who last week committed to Alabama?
