
LOS ANGELES — Ohio State football’s opt-outs and injuries will create some springboard opportunities in the Rose Bowl against Utah. The Buckeyes do not release an actual depth chart — even for major bowl games — but prior usage and practice glimpses give us a fairly clear picture. We may see the opening day 2022 starting receiver group on the field for Saturday’s first snap. With Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson both sitting out, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Julian Fleming are in line to start alongside Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Thayer Munford has not started at left tackle since last year’s national championship game against Alabama, though he did play there on occasion this season. Nicholas Petit-Frere’s opt-out opens that opportunity. Matt Jones, who started in the postseason in place for Harry Miller a year ago, should start at left guard.
